The Gorgonzola Consortium is launching a virtual tour of the landscapes and flavours in the land of Gorgonzola, which will take us, stage by stage, to discover the delicacies and architectural beauties of the fifteen Italian provinces, between Piedmont and Lombardy, from where Gorgonzola PDO leaves every day towards the rest of Italy and the world.
Legend has it that it was the “cheesemaker in love” who “invented” Gorgonzola cheese, in the little village of the same name on the outskirts of Milan. Today, Gorgonzola is mostly produced in Novara, Piedmont, but not only! The link between the “king of blue cheese” and its land of origin is indissoluble. It can only be produced here, using only fresh whole milk from local cattle farms, and it is also here that Gorgonzola must be aged and packaged to receive the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
Novara, Pavia, Bergamo to start with and then all the provinces in the consortium area, cities rich in history whose architectural beauty and food and wine traditions we will get to know. Enjoy your journey!
