Exporice is transforming and becoming “Exporice 2025: Rice & Gorgonzola.” The event dedicated to the rice market and typical products of Novara, now in its twelfth edition, is enriched this year by an exceptional partner: Gorgonzola Pdo.
According to Antonio Auricchio, President of the Consortium for the Protection of Gorgonzola Pdo Cheese, “The combination of rice and Gorgonzola is a happy and well-established marriage that has been going strong for centuries without any sign of crisis! That’s why we have worked hard to bring these two certified quality products together in one big event. Personally, as a food lover, I consider risotto with Gorgonzola to be one of my absolute favorite dishes. I would like to thank,” continues Auricchio, “the organizers for their hospitality and the city institutions in the persons of the Mayor of Novara, Alessandro Canelli, and the Councilor for Commerce, Maria Cristina Stangalini, for involving us, together with the director of the Chamber of Commerce, Fabio Ravanelli, and Maria Rosa Fagnoni, ATL councilor, and Raffaella Afferni, ATL president, for their support. I am certain that the entire supply chain and the restaurant industry will benefit from an event as important, historic, and prestigious as Exporice Riso&Gorgonzola.”
Gorgonzola Pdo and its production area, with the province of Novara at the heart of global production, therefore have an unbreakable bond, made tangible this year by the official recognition of Novara as the “City of Cheese” by ONAF, the National Organization of Cheese Tasters. This prestigious recognition and the collaboration with the Municipality of Novara and the Monte Rosa Laghi Alto Piemonte Chamber of Commerce have given rise to the desire to bring together the two most iconic gastronomic products, rice and Gorgonzola cheese, which are also a perfect combination on the plate, in a single major event.
The Consortium will be present at the event, which will open on Friday, September 26, at 4:00 p.m. and end on Sunday, September 28, at 7:00 p.m., with a stand dedicated to the King of Blue Cheeses, where experts from the Consortium will be on hand. Additionally, on Saturday and Sunday, cooking classes with local chefs and guided tastings will be held, organized by ONAF and the Consortium (see program below).
These two essential products of Piedmontese cuisine and the Mediterranean diet are also the subject of a photography contest aimed at photography enthusiasts and gourmands, who are invited to capture rice and Gorgonzola, together or separately, in a single shot. The best photographs will be on display for the duration of the event.
