Autumn is beginning, for many the most melancholic season, for others the most “gorgonzola-filled” of the year!
It is during this period that consumption of Gorgonzola Pdo cheese reaches its peak, thanks to the seasonality that favors dishes such as risotto, gnocchi, and polenta-based recipes, but also for reasons related to mood. The beginning of autumn coincides with the end of the holidays, and this, as we know, does not exactly put us in a good mood. It is precisely at times like these that the body seeks out substances that can bring a moment of joy. Gorgonzola PDO is considered a comfort food because it is rich in tryptophan, an amino acid involved in the synthesis of serotonin, also known as the “happiness hormone” (*).
This is one of those interesting facts that not everyone knows about this cheese, but it is not the only one. For example, Gorgonzola Pdo is naturally lactose-free (less than 0.1g/100g, a natural consequence of the typical production process. It contains galactose) and is produced only with pasteurized whole cow’s milk. For these and other reasons, in September, the Consortium for the Protection of Gorgonzola Pdo Cheese set itself the mission of telling the public around the world about the authenticity of this famous cheese with the “MISSION: ENDLESS TASTE”, a social contest in which six well-known European food creators will receive a clue to decipher and transform into a recipe inspired by one of the six reasons why Gorgonzola Pdo is an authentic #Endless Taste. In the international spirit of the world’s most famous blue cheese, Federico Fusca (@federicofusca) and Luisa Orizio (@allacciateilgrembiule) for Italy, Valentine Astruc (@valin_food) for France, Martha Sanahuja (@deliciousmartha) for Spain, Josef Ertl (@joeskochwelt) for Germany, and Francesco Mattana (@our_cookingjourney) for the United Kingdom, will embark on this mission.
The mission will also involve leading international publishers in the food and wine sector. Articles and in-depth features on Gorgonzola Pdo will appear in the Italian magazine Il Cucchiaio d’Argento, the French newspaper Le Monde, and seven German publications: Essen&Trinken, Trinken, Chefkoch, Kochbar, Lecker, Living at Home, Wunderweib, and Brigitte.
Autumn has never been so tasty and intriguing!
