It is during the first months of the year when the data relevant to production and export of Gorgonzola PDO are processed. And well, 2017 has certainly been a positive year. According to the data available until November, 4,316,821 wheels of Gorgonzola PDO have been produced, which means 142,269 more than the previous year (+3.41%) and 228,459 more than in 2015.
Whereas, regarding the final figures of the production percentage destined for foreign markets, we will have to wait another few months. However, we could say that between January and September 2017, already 14,617 tons of Gorgonzola PDO have been exported globally, mainly to the European Union (12,780 tons on the total).
In order to enhance the promotion of the product towards foreign buyers in 2018, the Gorgonzola Consortium will participate in Gulfood, one of the most important food trade shows, that will be held in Dubai from the 18th to the 22nd of February, and visited by an average of 97,000 people coming from over 180 countries.
Next year, the most important Italian food fair will be Cibus, that is organised every two years in Parma (7-10 May).
