For Gorgonzola PDO, the new year begins with an important international appointment: Gulfood, one of the main trade shows worldwide for the agricultural and food sector. Taking place from 18 to 22 February in (UAE), Gulfood is attended on average by 97,000 people from over 180 countries.
Gorgonzola PDO will be the focus (HALL 2 – STAND C2-34) of a series of activities and tasting sessions presented together with the consortia for the protection of four other Italian cheeses: Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, Grana Padano PDO, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO and Pecorino Romano PDO.
After ending 2017 with a 3.31% rise in production, a review of export data confirms that the European Union absorbs the majority of the product made for exporting (16,450 tons) – with the share sold to France (+4.08%) and the United Kingdom (+5.71%) showing the highest growth – while the largest increases are seen in the countries of Northern Europe, such as Sweden (+16%), and Eastern Europe, such as Lithuania (+129%) and Estonia (+50%).
