GORGONZOLA PDO AT THE SUMMER FANCY FOOD SHOW IN NEW YORK

The Consortium Gorgonzola Pdo participated, together with Afidop Associazione Formaggi Italiani PDO and PGI in the Summer Fancy Food Show, which ended on July 1 in New York. It was an important opportunity to promote the product in the North American market, which has many enthusiasts.

The President of the Consortium, Antonio Auricchio, flew to New York not only to support the Italian community, one of the largest and most visited, but also for the important evening organized by the ICE Agency in support of Italian cuisine’s candidacy for UNESCO Heritage status. After the gala dinner in the majestic setting of Gotham Hall, curated by three-star chef Giancarlo Perbellini with the collaboration of Italian-American pastry chef Sal de Riso, the delegation moved to Times Square where a public ceremony was held with the screening, on the iconic big screen, of the promotional campaign to support Italy’s candidacy.

It was a wonderful evening,” said Auricchio, and despite some competing trade fairs, I was also impressed by Fancy Food, which attracted many visitors not only from North America but from all over the world. I had an excellent meeting,” continued Auricchio, “with Cons. Amb. Emanuele di Lorenzo Badia, Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Italian Embassy in Washington, and I plan to return to the US in September to meet the new Italian ambassador.”

The stand was also visited by the President of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, and the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida (pictured with President Auricchio).

Relations with the North American market are paying the price for the well-known phenomenon of Italian Sounding and the trade tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, which threaten trade and the spread of Made in Italy products overseas.
