A spring packed with international events for the Gorgonzola Pdo Consortium. From mid-March to the end of May, Gorgonzola Pdo took center stage in Spain as part of a series of initiatives alongside Asiago Pdo, Pecorino Sardo Pdo, Quartirolo Lombardo Pdo, and Taleggio Pdo cheeses. Activities included organizing a training course at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, participating with a joint booth at the Salón de Gourmets, and, finally, taking part in the Italian Cheese Weeks at the La Carbonera restaurant in Madrid, featuring tastings and food pairings. This highly successful program aimed to showcase the richness, diversity, and tradition of these five Italian dairy delights to the public and professionals in the Spanish market, which is increasingly interested in our cheeses (175,580 wheels of Gorgonzola Pdo imported in 2025, a 3.17% increase compared to the previous year).
From June 7 to 9, the five protection consortia then traveled to France to participate in two events much loved by the French public, both in Paris: the Salon du Fromage, one of Europe’s most important cheese fairs, and Balade Gourmande, a hugely popular gastronomic festival where ten restaurants reinterpreted the five Italian Pdo cheeses in specially curated menus and a series of exclusive dishes to introduce their distinctive characteristics to Parisians, who are traditionally cheese lovers (France alone accounts for about a quarter of global Gorgonzola Pdo exports, with 511,494 wheels imported in 2025, up 2.38%). The activities in Spain and France were carried out under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Forestry (MASAF).
Finally, at the end of June, the Gorgonzola Pdo Consortium will travel to the United States to participate in the Summer Fancy Food Show (June 28–30, New York), a must-attend American event dedicated to food. Gorgonzola Pdo will be featured in the Italian Pavilion, the largest exhibition space in the fair’s international section, which will showcase the full range of Italian food and agricultural products.
